If we’ve learned anything from this year, it’s that life can be unpredictable. Our normal gym exercise routines have had to majorly change, with home workouts now a popular way to exercise.
Home gym equipment can be hard to source and expensive, to say the least. Luckily there’s a way you can complete your workout program using some simple household items, without having to invest in extra equipment.
Keep reading for our tips on which household products you can start using in your workout.
Liquid bottles are an excellent way to add weight to hand-held exercise options. As long as your bottles have a handle, you can complete basically any exercise.
Functional movements like squats, lunges, overhead press, kettlebell swings, or bicep curls are perfect with extra weight.
A towel can be used for many different purposes. Whether you’re completing an ab routine and need a soft surface, or completing functional exercises like a pike.
A towel is a versatile piece of equipment. Our pro tip is to use an extra towel for extra thickness if you’re needing extra padding to replace as a mat.
A dining or outdoor chair can be a great substitute for your typical workout bench. Whatever chair you use, make sure it’s sturdy enough to use, especially if you are using additional weight.
Some exercises examples include split squats, incline and decline pushups, and upper body exercises such as overhead press or lateral raises to name a few.
A great cardio substitute you can use is stairs. If you don’t have any stairs in your house, get outdoors and complete your workout at a local park, or at the beach. Make the most of a quick HIIT cardio session
Our biggest tip is to get creative and just get moving. Studies have shown that moving your body for just five to ten minutes per day, still has health benefits.
